Before being bought by the famous French artist and animal painter, Thierry Bisch, the vineyard ETALON ROUGE belonged to the French actor, Gérard Depardieu (and Bernard Magrez, an important chateau owner and promoter of great Bordeaux and international wines).

For eight years Denis Dubourdieu, professor of oenology at the University of Bordeaux, and wine producer in his own family vineyards, was the consultant to ETALON ROUGE. Sadly "the Pope of white wines" died in 2016, shortly after we acquired the vineyard. However, his legacy remains.

Today Etalon Rouge is owned by a consortium of ten wine lovers from all over the world (éventuellement un lien aux actionnaires, on verra ca avec eux). From 2016 Christian Prud'homme, consultant and former leader of one of the famous 1st Classified Growth of Pauillac in Bordeaux, assisted Clarissa Schaefer, the "Maître de Chai", in applying the rules of bio-dynamics to Etalon Rouge and teaching her to become the wine maker she is today.
