ETALON ROUGE is a \u201cVin de Bordeaux\u201d (although the vineyard is situated within the Blaye C\u00f4tes de Bordeaux appellation) as it has a single varietal production.<\/span><\/p>\n

The soil is of very old origin (75 to 60 million years). In the middle Eocene period, however (about 50 million years ago), a marine transgression of the Atlantic Ocean immersed the lands of Blaye and deposited in this southwestern part of the Blayais, several layers of marine sediments that brought shell limestone called \u201cBlaye limestone\u201d with them. These layers are now interspersed with small deposits of clay. Well marked by erosion, this limestone is purer and more visible at the top of the plot.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le sol est d’origine tr\u00e8s ancienne (75 \u00e0 60 millions d’ann\u00e9es). Cependant, \u00e0 l’\u00c9oc\u00e8ne moyen (il y a environ 50 millions d’ann\u00e9es), une transgression marine de l’oc\u00e9an Atlantique a immerg\u00e9 les terres de Blaye et d\u00e9pos\u00e9 dans cette partie sud-ouest du Blayais, plusieurs couches de s\u00e9diments marins qui ont apport\u00e9 du calcaire coquillier appel\u00e9 \u00ab calcaire de Blaye \u00bb. \u00a0\u00bb avec eux. Ces couches sont d\u00e9sormais entrecoup\u00e9es de petits d\u00e9p\u00f4ts d’argile. Bien marqu\u00e9 par l’\u00e9rosion, ce calcaire est plus pur et plus visible en haut de la parcelle.<\/p>\n
